A Wine Basket - The Gift For A Perfect Host

A Wine Basket - The Gift For A Perfect Host
By Laura Weaver

I recently returned from an unforgettable vacation in Key West, Florida. I had never visited there before and was a little unsure about what to expect. My apprehensiveness proved to be unfounded, as I discovered the best way to explore and enjoy this area was to become acquainted with a "local". The local resident I am indebted to is the host at the Bed and Breakfastwhere I stayed.

I originally had reservations to stay in one of the many big-name motel chains that are on the east side of the island, but changed these plans, opting for one of the smaller, more intimate Bed and Breakfast Homes instead, which happened to be located in Old Town Key West. The Bed and Breakfast I stayed in was a lovely clapboard 1920's era two-story building with cozy bedrooms, separate his and hers bathrooms down the wood-planked hallway, a comfortable living room/library area, a spacious dining room, and a huge veranda full of white wickerfurniture.

It was while I was relaxing with the other guests on this comfortable veranda that the friendly host brought out a huge tray filled with an assortment of different wines, cheeses and crackers. While we were enjoying the wine and each others' company, the host made several suggestions of things we could do and see during our visit. He was very knowledgeable and had interesting stories to share about the history of Key West as well as insightful snippets of information that helped us decide how to make our Key West vacation enjoyable and memorable. In fact, our host went above and beyond his duty and actually escorted all of us to the infamous Mallory Square, where we enjoyed the festivities of the nightly Street Fair and watcheda spectacular sunset.

I felt the Bed and Breakfast host did an outstanding job during my recent vacation, so I wanted to personally thank him by sending a Wine Basket to him. There are several options to consider when choosing a wine basket, as the taste and the type of different wines vary greatly: alcoholic/non-alcoholic; white/red; sweet/dry; fruity/crisp. Types of wines can range from Merlot to Cabernet Sauvignon; Chardonnay to Dom Perignon. Additional items that could be included when choosing a wine baskets are foods that compliment the wine: an assortment ofcheeses, pretzels, crackers or nuts.

Since there are so many choices in wine baskets, I opted to send a simple white wine, which seems like a safe bet. I added an assortment of mixed nuts and hard peach candies to go with the package. I am certain my host with appreciate and enjoy the Wine Basket I have chosen to give him, as it is the perfect gift to thank aperfect host.

Laura Weaver consults for http://www.99GiftBaskets.US which is an web based source for shipment of a wine gift basket of your choice to a number of states. Since shipment of alcohol to some U.S. locations is illegal, you might consider an alternative gift. Weaver suggests that you give some thought to shipping a fresh gourmet fruit basket inthose cases.
